Re: RTOC in America - Ukrainian?

Sinok, I hear your frustration. I don't think about it on a political level. I know many ROCOR-A members who know about our humble parish, but they choose not to come because of their own personal decisions whatever the cause may be. But, they are all aware that we exist. It's just a matter of time ...

Re: RTOC in America - Ukrainian?

Sinok, You need to get passed the nationalism and look at the Orthodox faith. Those Ukrainian bishops and priest that serve under RTOC are still identifying themselves with the Russian Church (RTOC, not MP) because the main Synod of the Orthodox faith with the Slavs is based with Russia. The Ukraine...

Re: When did Rome start venerating statues?

Fr. Mark, I would think that the Apostles' (and disciples') teachings against idol worship would be the strongest point. They were obeying the Second Commandment. When St. John went to Patmos, the idols fell. These idols were in the form of statues. That's just one example. Therefore, they would cer...

Re: When did Rome start venerating statues?

Actually, statues have been with Christianity since the beginning. Many Orthodox might not be aware of that, but statues are as old as icons. Re: Orthodox struggles against Ecumenism and Impurity

I just don't agree with Maria's comment that ROCOR was never a True Orthodox Synod. That is just plainly untrue. That would mean that Met. St. Philaret and St. John Maximovich were not with the True Orthodox Synod. The whole struggle of the bishops who formed ROCOR should attest to the fact that the...

Re: Texas - 'No Court, No Law' Will Change Definition

Barbara, I've been feeling sick for a while since Canada had legalized homosexual marriage, nationwide since 2005. The U.S. is following little brother. All of North America is going to hell in a hand basket. As for Russia's situation, I'm just waiting for St. Seraphim to appear. Nothing will be mad...

Re: Knocking on Wood & Making the Sign of the Cross

I have actually experienced that result on many occasions. I would say I never did this or this never happened to me and lo and behold, it would happen. But, I didn't react by knocking on wood or crossing myself. I just learnt not to say it. When I wanted to say something, I remembered my lesson and...
