I've been researching about Orthodox jurisdictions in Brazil and I came across some info I would like to be clarified to me, regarding churches under Metropolitan Angelos of Avlona and Boeotia.
Metropolitan Kyrillos was received into the Avlona Synod in 2011,[1] and he has parishes under his omophorion in São Paulo and Ceará.[2]
So, it seems Metropolitan Chrysóstomos, who entered Metropolitan Angelos's jurisdiction in 2010 with his churches, has parishes in the states of São Paulo and Pernambuco, according to Wikipedia.[3][4] There's an Old Calendarist priest in Pernambuco with a blog, and his blog claims to be under the Autonomous Metropolis of Ecuador and Latin America (Metropolitan Chrysóstomos's eparchy), apparently without mentioning Metropolitan Kyrillos anywhere.[5]
Should Metropolitan Kyrillos, then, not be named "Metropolitan of All Brazil", if there are parishes of his jurisdiction inside Brazil that are not under him? If true, isn't it wrong that the same state (São Paulo) has parishes from two different bishops in the same jurisdiction? Am I missing something? Maybe I'm looking at outdated information and someone can clarify it? Both bishops are listed in the Synod's pages.[6][7]
Searching on this very forum, I've seen people claiming the Avlona Synod subscribes to the Imiaslavie heresy, and Metropolitan Chrysóstomos himself seems to be a very polemical figure. It's not important for this topic, however, I'd just like to hear if anyone is aware of what this jurisdictional confusion means.
