More Churches in Early Byzantine Style!

Post by Justice »

I know most of the True Orthodox buy buildings form protest and or Roman Cathiolics, but I think it would be even more beautiful if we started building churches in The early Byzantine fashion. Not that the True Orthodox have the funds but I can dream :)

The monastics in upstate New York in the GOC-K are building a chapel that will be a mini-Agia Sophia.

I will post pictures and a link to their website.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

I thought the miniHagia Sophia project was cancelled. I hope not, but I heard it was a no go.

Thank you, Father, for these updates. I had no idea since I am not a member of the GOC-K.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

Not only do we need more churches like this, more churches should include stained glass. I recently learned that stained glass originated in the Eastern Roman empire, but eventually died out and was picked up in the west. It also seems that most Eastern Orthodox churches won't even include stained glass for this reason.

This is what I would love to see in more True Orthodox churches. Funny enough, almost all the World Orthodox churches in my area have stained glass icons of Christ, the Theotokos, and saints.
