Parable of the Good Shephard

Post by Liudmilla »

I have run into a interesting situation.

A number of Russian Orthodox priest who seem to think that the teaching of the Parable pf the Good Shephard does not apply to them. They seem to feel that they do not need to go out into their community (and/or flock) and keep an eye out for those in "trouble" or in need --of any kind--. They seem to think that it is not part of their function to go out and help those in spiritual need.

Doesn't the teaching of the Parable indicate otherwise?

Yes, but the flock must let the shepherd know too

I would tend to say that it does. However I also think that we are all called to do such a thing too. But the shepherd must be told by his flock that one needs his help as well. God Bless!
