Eusebius of Caesaria had direct knowledge of the terrible persecutions of the Church prior to the reign of the Emperor Constantine. Arianism was a particular scourge of his day, especially during the reign of Constantius, who persecuted St. Athanasius and many others. Then the Church had to endure the pagan reign of Julian the Apostate. Of Eusebius, we can at least agree that his Ecclesiastical History remains the most thorough attempt to document the early history of the Church from the 1st to the 4th centuries, written at a time of great struggle and turmoil within nascent Christendom. He worked very hard to document the Apostolic succession of the major Christian communities at Jerusalem, Antioch, Alexandria, Rome, and elsewhere. Yet, it appears that the Protestant "scholar" Morey has confined his critique of Orthodox history to a a few selective references on the Alexandrian Church...

In his book it seems that there is a chapter about the alleged "Confession of Cyril" Lucaris (1572-1638). He obviously fails to mention, however, that the Patriarch denied, several times, having written it. Instead, he uses this "confession" and the Patriarch to contend that he was trying to bring Orthodoxy back to truth, but Orthodoxy rejected it. What a farse.

By the way, the web site of the man who is attacking the book (mentioned in the post above) is really good.

The Lord said that He would build His church and that the gates of Hades would not prevail against it. He has kept His promise, although there are still those today who attack it. The author of this book is merely one in a long line of enemies of the Church of Christ.

The Amazon reviews of this book are critical of it. Morey is not even close to being a scholar.
