Recently in the media, including NFTU, there is the accusation that Pope Benedict has stated in his new book that there were neither animals (ox and ass) at Christ's birth nor angels singing on high.
Dr. Clarke demonstrates that the first news source to cite Pope Benedict XV's book is the UK's Daily Mail, which is known for its inaccuracies. Rather than verify, CNN and the New York TImes quickly echoed the mistakes made in the Daily Mail and in UK's Telegraph.
Sloppy journalism? This is not the first time that CNN and the New York Times have conveniently erred showing their liberal and anti-Christian bias.
It would be interesting to see if this is actually not true concerning the Pope's publication. Maria is right about the press constantly finding things to report to discredit the authority of what the masses see as "the Christian Church" and "church authorities". They obviously hope to accelerate secularism and wipe out the Christian population anywhere it can be found.
Thank you, Maria. So the press get it spectacularly wrong and the Pope is seemingly the authority for something he never wrote. Understanding how this none story came about was really interesting. The lesson, never trust the press and never take what they write as necessarily accurate or proportionate let alone true.
Yes, it is indeed a good lesson. The mainstream media constantly undermines its own credibility and authority and influence over people. Hurrah! Maybe people will listen more to the Church, in time.
