New Book: Metropolitan Petros of Astoria

Post by Anastasios »

Dear Friends,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the availability of my book, "Metropolitan Petros of Astoria: A Microcosm of the Old Calendar Movement in America." This work examines the ecclesiastical life of Metropolitan Petros (Astyfides), the founder of St. Markella's Cathedral in Astoria, New York.

Thank you, Anastasios, I have purchased and read it. Researching and writing must have been some exercise. I have found every history relating to our Old Calendar movement has given me a headache simply trying to keep in mind the ebbing and flowing of individuals and groups, to say nothing of the accompanying polemics. Your account of Metropolitan Petros' life was refreshing on account of the lack of polemics. /\

An accomplishment! It seems nearly eight years ago I asked Anastasios (on that other forum) to explain this history. Getting an answer, at least from the American part, is welcomed.

Well done.

The ecclesiology of Petros Astyphidis was very unclear.

And this is not the place to discuss it.

I am not familiar with any of these new-fangled book options, but what about Amazon Print ?
Will a print version be released in the future ? I was looking forward to reading a copy of the real live book at leisure.

Congratulatios on having pulled together all the research material and published this history !
[ Oops that looks like a Greek version of Congratulations the way I typed it ! ]
Is there much about Rocor in it ?
