I did not notice this in 2018 Actually, the fact of transferring the Annunciation to another day and in particular to Easter if it falls on the Great Friday or Great Saturday is a specificity of Violakis typikon that prescribes it for parishes only and not for monasteries because parishioners ere not educated enough to understand the combination of happy hymns for the Feasts and sad ones for the Passion of Christ. In Saint Sabbas typikon, you NEVER move Annunciation. It is a big no. BY the way, this moving of Annunciation is one of the several reasons why the Typikon of Violakis is criticised.

Thank for all this explanation, Jean-Serge.
I just realized that it's a special Annuncication this year too, coinciding with the Sunday of the Cross.
How does THAT get handled, do you know ??

I learned that today's Feast is called StavroTheotokion.

A Stavrotheotokion is a special Theotokion (hymn) that makes reference to Christ’s crucifixion. I’ve never heard it used to refer to the Annunciation and the Adoration of the Cross coinciding.

OH ! Thank you for the correction, Fr Antonios ! I had no idea either way. I actually got this information from a TOC site. They made a mistake, then.

Much appreciate your informing me.
