Important phase in restoration of a representation church of the Convent of St. Seraphim in Arzamas was completed in the middle of January. Five dooms of the church are entirely restored, the roof of the building is under construction.
The restoration of the interior is in prospect. A spacious vault is located under the church, its roof is also cracked and needs restoration.
The Church of the Nativity of Christ in Arzamas (representation church of the Diveyevo Convent of St. Seraphim) was built in 1852 by Architect Konstantin Ton. The church was closed in 1930. Arzamas bread-baking plan was housed there in the Soviet times.
The building was transferred to the Gorky specialized research workshop in 1981. Experts commenced work on its restoration, which was continued in 2002 on the initiative of Mother Superior of the Diveyevo Convent of St. Seraphim Hegumenia Sergia.
