Tattoos

Post by Lydia »

Is permissible for Orthodox Christians to get tattoos? I have read that many Copts tattoo a cross on their inner forearms, and that some other Christians in the Middle East are following suit, indelibly proclaiming their faith in the midst of Muslim barbarity.

Just be careful, tattoo inks are in not a few cases carcinogenic. Personally I find tattoos and body piercings repellent.

I agree. Dr. Blaylock. M.D. in his most recent newsletter mentioned that most tattoo inks are carcinogenic as they pass through the skin and then into the liver and pancreas.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

Just to be clear, I have no intention of getting a tattoo. I don't even have pierced ears!
The information about tattoo ink is very interesting. I've known people whose tattoos consist of charcoal dust.
Anyway, I guess there is no prohibition from an Orthodox standpoint?

No.

It's self mutilation.

Do not be shocked by those who teach new doctrines but seem to be worthy of credence. Stand solidly like an anvil under blows. A good athlete suffers blows but wins. St Ignatius.
