The New Atheists, by Fr. Michael Azkoul of the GOC-K

Post by Maria »

A message from Father Panagiotes Carras of the GOC-K (in Canada)

Fr. Michael Azkoul, in this video, talks about his latest book, The New Atheists. In his book, he speaks about these new enemies of Christianity, who since 2004, in North America, have attempted to eradicate belief in God and replace it with the conviction that Scientism is the criterion for rational belief. According to Scientism, empirical science is the only source of our knowledge about the way things are. The teachings of this new group of atheists have added impetus to the separation of modern society from traditional belief in God.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

I just watched this video, it's really great that Orthodox Christians are speaking out against the teachings of people like Richard Dawkins and Madalyn Murray O'Hair.

I would argue that the New Atheists came before the early 2000's with people like Madalyn Murray O'Hair and the organization she started. Only after Madalyn Murray's death did her followers rise from the ashes.

We have had serious atheists with us since the Renaissance, but this new breed is far more dangerous. Perhaps they are not a new breed, but are closeted communists.

Look at what has happened in Greece back in the 1924's. There were atheists in the Greek government who conspired to persecute the True Orthodox. It is not so bad now, but the monks and fathers at the Florinite monastery on Mt. Athos have experienced persecution for many years. Those persecuting them claim to be Orthodox Christians.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

Fr. Michael Azkoul, a few decades back, was party to the Boston schism of Fr. Panteleimon Metropoulos et al. (which later became HOCNA), and has never repented of his slanders of the saints and false teachings. The fact that Fr. Panagiotes Carras, who was also party to this same Boston schism, is promoting Fr. Michael Azkoul and his slanderous writings, tells you all you need to know about him as well.

In my estimation they should both be avoided and their dubious and unorthodox writings should be ignored.
