Deuteronomy 25:1-3

Post by Olympiada »

Dear Saint Euphrosynos Cafe,
Ok, I am getting frustrated. All I want is some Orthodox commentary on Deuteronomy 25:1-3 and I am not finding it and I am looking all over. I want to know why our God is a God of corporal punishment, why a criminal has to lie down in front of a court and receive 40 stripes. My bishop didn't tell me this when he chrismated me, he just chrismated me and that was that. Well 6 years later I wake up and smell the coffee, and it smells dark! I need some milk and sugar to be able to drink it.

Dear Olympiada,

This is part of the Old Coveneant, the Covenant that Christ fulfilled and now we are living in the New Covenant or Testament.

I know that. Look I moved this discussion over to a biblical studies group where I got some scholarly input. Thank you so much for contribution. I am going to deal with it over there now. Sorry to disturb you.
