Liturgical bathing?

Post by Pensees »

Is it appropriate to sing liturgical hymns while in the shower? This may sound like a silly question, but it's something that I do rather often.

Why don't you ask your spiritual father?

Too embarassing to ask one's spiritual father but not too much so to post here and on the Eastern Orthodox forum?

Singing in the Rain

I also do this fairly often and justify it with the question: "Is there EVER an inappropriate time to sing God's praises or give thanks to Him?"
As for Scriptural support, I lean on Eph. 5:19-20, "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ"

What an unusual question!

Still, it has been asked.

We should ideally include our faith in God in every aspect of our lives, as a constant reminder of our struggles against sin, the flesh and the devil. If you feel moved to sing hymns at various points throughout your day, then by all means do it, and if you happen to be in the shower at the time, then so what?

I wish I were in a position to even ask that sort of question.

What do you mean? I feel rather silly in asking it. :) But I do agree with you.
