Absolutely REMARKABLE, UPLIFTING stories !

i am still working my way through these mesmerizing accounts.

In the first one, were they really INVISIBLE, meaning like Saints dwelling there ?
Or they were living monks who maintained aloofness from other humans, hence SEEMED invisible ?

What do other members understand by that term ?

Yes, the consensus seems to be that these particular holy fathers are human (possibly when one dies they are replaced by another holy father who has achieved that stature) and not different from us in any way except their holiness, and that they are physically invisible from us unless they wish to be seen for some purpose. An entire book has been published about the invisible holy fathers.

Oh thank you for this reply.

That makes entire sense.

Do you happen to know offhand the name of the book about the Invisible Elders?
I would LOVE to read that [not on kindle or computer, however !]

Ah ! This is the reason I was given a sight of a black pickup truck Friday
with the license plate :

Code: Select all

     GREEK

I couldn't figure out what the meaning would be for me.

I was racing back to a Chevron station. I was so tired that I had driven
off when the gas pump didn't accept my credit card, forgetting that
the gas cap was still resting on my car trunk.

Now, I have NEVER once done that.
I figured I was terribly exhausted and it was a prod from Heaven to
realize that and recover.

When I discovered that that little door was open
and gas cap of course long flown away, I was miles distant.
So i hoped to find it sitting somewhere around that Chevron.

Instead, on the road there, THIS was what I saw !
In the busy Friday afternoon traffic, the license plate flashed into my view
just long enough to see it.

I wondered what the black color meant, but now I suspect it signifies
Monasticism in Greece, namely as told here : these tales of TRUE Holy Elders on Athos !

Hence, as I am always obedient to what I believe to be a heavenly spur to do something,
I better order that book !

So - do you have the book in Greek's ordering info, after all this - thanks for your
patience, Icxpion !

[ Post Script: i went right to the dealer to order a new gas cap.
I decided it WAS the will of God,
because the one I had was probably too old and tarnished by previous owners of the car.
I wanted a locking one, but they didn't make them in those days.
You never know what could happen in the future with desperate people and shortages, I figure.]

I am reading one episode a day of the Athonite Elders and immensely enjoying them.
If you find more, be sure to add them !
These are the Best I have heard of./

Interesting experience, Barbara. I think there it is certainly fortuitous that you lost the cap if it forced you to buy a new locking one. So who knows. It could be God.

Here is the link to the book

The Invisible Hermits of Mount Athos
by P.VLASIOS MONK AGIOREITIS

the link to buy the book online is here:

It costs about 14 dollars not including shipping.
