Society is conditioned by Hollow-Wood. There is a kind of refashioning of perception and reality where as you note Barbara, everything is related to and compared to the eye of the movie experiences that have crowded out our brains. There is an excellent article by A.W. Tozer on the falsity and antiChristian nature of the movie.

It is interesting to note that anyone whose profession was as an actor in Roman times who became a Christian was commanded by the canons to cease from acting, and were forbidden to make a living off of only training actors. Instead, if they were unable to find any other line of work approved by the Church, the bishops decreed that the local parish should support him to keep him from being tempted to go back to that form of evil employment and perish in it. Acting was condemned by the Early Church. To be honest, I have not rid myself of all TV watching. I watch Downton Abbey. And I watched the Hobbit last weekend at the cinema. But I know that it is empty and so I ask your prayers that I should be able to break off all watching of dramatizations of any kind.
