I'm sorry, but I'll have to pass. That place has become a real weight on my soul. I don't want to go there.
I don't want to let you down, but I don't think you can break through to liberals like that, who are really Anglicans in Orthodox clothing. We can pray for them, but that's about it. If they want to be chummy with the world, let them.

That's a shame, because Oblio is actually a pretty good guy.
I noticed he expressed the common sentiment, however, that the Orthodox forum there should be shared by both the Eastern Orthodox and the Non-Chalcedonians.
I used to think the same way, though, until recently. I had my eyes opened on another forum by an aggressive Non-Chalcedonian who was regularly bad-mouthing the Council of Chalcedon. His posts caused me to investigate this issue.
Now I'm not fooled by beards, incense, candles, and icons.
Not everyone who has those things is Orthodox.
Justin's post reminded me of a problem that has popped up more than once in this kind of discussion: we all seem to know somebody who is Non-Chalcedonian and a nice person.
Thus, when a discussion of differences begins, it rapidly becomes personal, as if those who uphold the Seven Councils and the Orthodox Fathers were attacking "those nice people, our friends."
For me nothing could be further from the truth. I don't like disagreeing with anyone, especially people I like and respect.
But the Orthodox faith is the Orthodox faith, and loyalty to its Lord means taking a stand, like it or not.
Lucian,
I think it is certainly a fine line to walk. We can't let someone being nice, pious, or educated keep us from speaking the truth in love. Last year I said some rash and presumptuous words in public about a certain jurisdiction, in regards to their relationship with the "non-Chalcedonians". One Deacon I know, who was in the jurisdiction I spoke against, thought that telling me about how pious and educated the "non-Chalcedonian" fellow was who attended (and received at) his Orthodox Church would change my mind. I think he saw my non-acceptance of his argument as a sign that I thought myself better or more pious. I'm trying to follow the lessons I've been able to gain from the life of Saint Gregory the Theologian, but it's an uphill battle since I do not have anything close to the discernment and humility that St. Gregory had.
