Anyone ever hear of the "TCROGCTCD"?

Post by user_323 »

Hi. I've been a "lurker" on the Cafe Forum for a while now, and decided to finally register to ask a question.

I came across this website advertising a "True Carpatho-Rusyn Orthodox Greek Catholic Traditionalist Church in the Diaspora."

http://www.rusyn.3x.ro

So far no one I know could tell me about these people. They call themselves "traditionalist" and "in resistance", terms I have heard other Old Calendar churches use, so I thought that somebody here might know. My priest says they seem questionable/spurious, and I have to agree.

Any thoughts?

I think it is supposed to be a funny joke. The beard and hair looks fake but the following from that site should help give away the joke of it:

*This approval is very rarely denied. However, we have found it expedient to deny or revoke our permission in certain cases. One of our parishes, which shall not be named, asked our permission to hold a water fight on Bright Monday, since it is an old custom for men to splash women with water on this day. We granted permission for such, but, under this guise, they held a so-called "wet t-shirt contest" involving college-aged women on the parish premises. While the Bright Monday attendance at this church did skyrocket, with numerous young men attending, we found this to be totally inappropriate and swiftly took action against this parish and its priest.

But you gotta admit -- that paragraph IS hilarious!

One has to wonder what kind of a person dresses up like a monk with a epitrachelion to make a joke.
