Ratzinger is the new Pope

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

"What I've read of the prophesies is that this pope will not last many years. "

This isn't one of those Jehovah's Witness's prophecies is it?

Hopefully he can unite all the Christian Churches under one banner.

Well, if he renounced the heresies that the Roman Church has proclaimed the last 1000 years or so, and returned the Roman Church to Orthodox belief, then that could happen. There would still be the Oriental Churches and protestants though....personally I think it would be more likely the Ortiental Churches return to Orthodoxy than the Roman Church, but even that is probably a long way off and would require much work. But with God anything is possible.

Christ is Risen!

Hopefully he can unite all the Christian Churches under one banner.

That would be the banner of the anti-christ and the new world order, of course. This world has already rejected Christ's resurrection. They would need to find a common ground where Christ is not the focal point. They would have to focus on a vague spiritual unity of dilusion...something that doesn't allow their conscience to realize that the only truth to God's Kingdom is through Jesus Christ. That Jesus Christ is the Saviour of this world and that all these other side tracks of spiritual enlightenment, that they pursue, are fake.

All these "Christian Churches" would have to acknowledge the Seven Ecumenical Councils and the teachings of the Holy Fathers from the 1st century...the tradition of the Church of Christ which was and is called Orthodox. ...the straight path. Otherwise, there is no other way of unity under the True Church of Christ.

I must agree & echo Mor Ephrem's statement, why be concerned with these if you are not in communion with the Roman Church ?
