Making a icon corner with some problems

Post by rafael.daher »

Dear all,

I want make a icon corner in my house. But, i have some problems:

1) I live in Brazil, so, i don't have real icons here, made by iconographers and with the proper materials.

2) I don't have any Orthodox crosses to buy here.

3) We don't have a Orthodox bible in portuguese here.

So, its allowed:

1) Make my icon corner with icons printed on my "HP"?

2) Make a Orthodox Cross with wood or marble?

3) Put on my icon corner a roman catholic bible?

I have a douay-rheims Holy bible, an exact tranlation from the Latin vulgate(roman Catholic bible)
and a cross that you make is good, just have it blessed...
and the icons too, no matter of paper or wood..
St.John of shanghai and san francisco and his dear friend Fr.Spyridon Efimov of blessed Memory would both cut paper icons or paintings of Our Saviour or the Theotokos, or the holy apostles and saints from Newspapers, magazines and flyers, etc...so that they wouldnt be Blasphemed or thrown away...
write me personally and ill send you an Icon of St.John and I will even take that icon and place it on his Relics and ask for his Blessings for you and your family...

Christ is Risen!

Yes Rafael.Daher, you are doing fine, as best as you can. Feel free to use any icons here: ICONS There are plenty there in a big enough size to print on your HP. Matte photo paper works well, (in my opinion).

Dear Rafael,

Have you finished your icon corner?

Can you post a picture of your icon corner(s)? I would like to see how you and others have it arranged.

Thank you,
Jacqueline

Also, I took a picture of my icon corner this evening and wanted to know if it is arranged ok. I love my corner but I am not very educated on how it should be arranged. Does the placement of icons matter?
