Well, there is no Orthodox cross. There are many different crosses which are all Orthodox :

1° the three bar cross is not orthodox but Russian

2° the latin cross is not catholic but latin (which means from the church of Rome that was orthodox)

3° you also have Saint Nino's cross

4° Celtic cross

5° Greek crosses

As regards the Bible, catholics and orthodox have the same bible whereas protestant bibles do not have some sections.

This is right fifty-fifty, Because although the Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholics use the same Greek Bible (The Old Testament of the Seventy Sages of Alexandria plus the New Testament) the Orthodox Church includes in its Holy Writings, 1º Esdras (I don't know as it is said in English), 3º Macabeos (I don't know as it is said in English), the 151º psalm and the prayer of Manases as "deuterocanonical", while the Roman Catholic Church doesn't recognize these texts at all.

Paper icons are completely fine. I don't have any hand-painted icons either, and an icon corner, however rudimentary or makeshift has an immediate otherworldly charm about it. They are intimately sacred spaces, from which prayers flow.
The D.R. translation of the Bible that the Catholics use is just fine too, until there are finally complete translations of the entire Septuagint and revealed text of the New Testament in English available in one seamless volume. The Antiochians are serializing publications of the Septuagint and Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Boston will be publishing an Orthodox Bible in the future. Compared to the KJV, the D.R. Bible is much more Orthodox, as it is a translation of the Vulgate, which in turn was translated, by St. Jerome, from the Septuagint. Many English speaking Orthodox people use the KJV because Elizabethan English has become a sort of Liturgical English in many churches, as I believe it should be. However, many of the translators of the KJV were Calvinists who borrowed heavily from the Geneva Bible in the wording of their translations from the Hebrew Masoretic text. A Mexican friend of mine who has converted to Orthodoxy says that his Spanish translation of the D.R. Bible that the Cahtolics use is actually more Orthodox in places than the KJV.

With Love in christ,

Dear all,

I want make a icon corner in my house. But, i have some problems:

1) I live in Brazil, so, i don't have real icons here, made by iconographers and with the proper materials.

2) I don't have any Orthodox crosses to buy here.

3) We don't have a Orthodox bible in portuguese here.

So, its allowed:

1) Make my icon corner with icons printed on my "HP"?

2) Make a Orthodox Cross with wood or marble?

3) Put on my icon corner a roman catholic bible?

We have many Icons which we printed ourselfs..... Thes can also be glued with a thin paste type glue like (Elmer's glue thinned with water) to boards that are cut to size. You can put a coat or clear paint over them, and paint the edges and thay look very lovely. Also, inexpensive Cardstock works very nicely for printing out Icons...... You can also just put them in frames that you buy from the store. The glass protects them nicely........

I would love to see a picture of your efforts....
Godspeed!!!
