I received a few plastic cards with the icon of the Theotokos on them as well as the name of a WO organization. If it did not have her image, I would have thrown them away. I am unsure what to do with them. Any thoughts or recommendations?
Icons in advertising
Re: Icons in advertising
What type of organization is it ?
If kind of dark, then what i would do would be to cut the Icon part off and put it up somewhere where it might help but not inside your house. Perhaps outdoors somewhere, like in a shed or garage.
Do you like the Icon ? If you do, then let it sit for awhile before you put it up. That's to get rid of the "bad energy" from the advertising and the World Orthodox business or whatever it was.
If you don't care for it, then put it somewhere you don't see it but it may still do some good. For example, when visitors come by, it will help dispel any darkness from them. Who knows what kind of people they are, after all ? You need to be protected from negativity, especially while in this precarious discernment time.
The devil likes to strike in order to deter you from progressing spiritually.
Almost any Icon of Our Lady can combat that

Re: Icons in advertising
I received them from the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC). An organization that I grew suspicious of, ever since I found out that they were receiving money from USAID and then discovered their involvement with the WCC.
I honestly dislike it when organizations use icons in their advertising. I have a couple of bookmarks that do this, and I use them, but it feels manipulative.
