I have no clue what horrible show "Dancing with Stars" has to do with. I hate even the name of it.
But I can imagine somewhat from Maria's post.

A sad aside was that when a new family moved into a house nearby and the young kids started shrilly screaming the first afternoon
after school, I went over to ask the parents to keep them quiet. The parents were understanding and [a miracle!] fairly apologetic.
They immediately told the girls to be quiet. The louder of the 2 girls said her name was Mikhaila.
I said Oh ! Like Archangel Michael ! It is his Day today [it was Sept 19]. I asked her "Were you named after him ?"
She showed no recognition of Archangel Michael, but beamed that her name came from a Mikhaila on Dancing with the Stars.
I internally rolled my eyes...

The other daughter had the Greek name Zoe, and the little boy was Zachary. I smiled "It was the day for St Zachariah yesterday !".
Everyone looked blank.

Now of course these were not Orthodox, nor Catholic no doubt. But the irnoy that instead of naming a child after
a glorious Archangel or the father of St John the Baptist, a name would come from a paltry television drama.

Lord have mercy... How sad. He had a lot of good posts; if only he would have had sufficient discretion to abstain from slander of his fellow man (especially a priest), and to put his concerns about this priest in a quiet and non-condemnatory fashion so that all the readers might be edified by his gentle and pious example rather than scandalised by it. I am sad to see him gone.
