Father Seraphim loved BACH, and that seems alot better then Christian Thrash metal, Right? WRONG, he called it a passion that one should let go of.it was hard for him too, but he did it.....
I too grew up in the 80s when a mixture of Punk rock and Heavy Metal came out in san Francisco and was dubbed Thrash Metal, it was actually at first called TRASH METAL, but later changed to THRASH....reguardless of the words its still a passion of anger and power..just like smoking pot(Thrash Metal) and changing to Tobacco Cigarettes(Christian Thrash) they both still have the same effect just on a different level, eventually they both rot your lungs, as metal music reguardless of lyrics hardens the heart to a certain coldness......
But i wont judge, for I still have a passion for Metal music
Metallica,Megadeth,Slayer,Exodus,Alice in Chains,Nirvana,Zakk Wylde
s Black Label Society, super joint ritual,Pantera, and the bands that I myself have been in..in the midst of all this I have to admit, that
this has become a very hard passion to break, for when i listen to metal I think of my past and my past revolved around Wisky, women and smoke a true road to hell.....................

I think of the good words of St John of Kronstadt, the music can judge for the passions that it wakes up in us.

The music rock gave origin to the cultures Punk, Metal etc, very harmful cultures for the human soul. But the vanity, the bad passions are not also only patrimony of Rock music, they are in other Music styles musical as the classic music.

The music that is not good to praise to God, is simply vanity.

But anyway, I think that the only one correct music is the one which is sings in the Church to praises to God, according to the dogmas and traditions of the Church.

With love in Christ
