Enchanting pics of Orthodox areas

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

Strange ! RIGHT AFTER - or not long after - I made that post [I am far from interested in whales, but i felt SOMEthing was important about the post], the 8.8 earthquake off Kamchatka occurred.

Officials explained that though the region had been steeling itself for a large earthquake for 30 YEARS, this was in fact the largest one to strike in 70 years - incredible !

KAMCHATKA EARTHQUAKE: WHY MINIMAL DAMAGE?

The strongest quake since 1952 (magnitude 8.8) left NO casualties, no significant damage in Russia's Kamchatka, Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands.

It’s not luck—it’s the result of hard work.

The earthquake struck in the Pacific Ocean, with the epicenter near Kamchatka's coast.

It's one of the strongest quakes globally in the last decade.

Physicists suggest the maximum possible magnitude on Earth is 9.0.

NO INFRASTRUCTURE DAMAGE

Local roads are also built to withstand even the strongest earthquakes.

In this video, you can see cars shaking, but the road surface remains intact.

THE BIGGEST DAMAGE

A wall collapsed in a kindergarten in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky city, but no injuries were reported.

This was the most significant damage caused by the natural disaster, according to Kamchatka's governor.

EARTHQUAKE-RESISTANT BUILDINGS

All buildings in Russia’s Far East, including Kamchatka, are constructed with earthquake-resistant technology.

So, while the walls shook, they mostly held up

CALM RESPONSE

There was no mass panic. People followed emergency instructions calmly.

Here’s how local radio stayed on air during the disaster, calmly evacuating residents, saying, "Calm down, everything is fine, dear friends. Let me remind you, we live in Kamchatka."

KEEP WORKING

This female hairdresser kept working on the street, even after the beauty salon was evacuated.

People generally felt there was no real danger."

A Palestinian commented shrewdly :
Very interesting.
Russia is resilient to forces of nature … not only the creations <[referring to the human factor : many countries being (needlessly) antagonistic toward Russia today]
