Icxpion, good idea, that duo SHOULD ideally go to a distant monastery preferably in Greece or far far away
and do a lot of manual work perhaps to compensate for their dreadful deeds and examples and in the case
of M., teachings allegedly which corrupted and confused numbers of souls.

Revnitel, that is a really good point about the lack of sincerity in Confession being a sin.
I know someone who glibly recites the most minimal things and FAKES a "Grande Repentance",
thereby deceving various priests over the years,

After all what nice priest would IMAGINE that someone could be a "sociopath" / a deceiver par excellence ?

I remember this person used to often say when I exhorted them to go to Confession, "I went, and
I told the priest that I ...[some miniscule fault]" - when in reality this person was a pathological liar,
just to start...

Priests develop great intuition of course, but they can't be EXPECTED to understand these serious mental
pathologies. It may take years to uncover the inconsistencies and deception.

I think I am mentioning this case not to criticize a specific individual.
But to alert priests that this type is RAMPANT out there today in America, and perhaps increasing
everywhere.

They should be alert that some rather Histrionic personalities [usually women] with a convincing
performance and high drama, relate less than 1 % of their real sins
and don't even regret THOSE ! They are smug and actually look down at the priest sometimes inside themselves,
though they would not ever admit this.

A caveat to keep in mind for anyone and in many scenarios.

Generally speaking, a person is responsible for their own sins, whether they be sincere or not and his sincerity will increase in Christ the more he/she tries to repent and decrease the less he does. The confessor is a guide in the process of repentance and the Mysteries medicines which we either take responsibly, to our better, or irresponsibly taking them for granted and inhibiting the work of grace by our free will. This is a dynamic process and scrupulosity is more of a false proxy for this process than cultivation of repentance, but manuals of confession can be a very necessary place to start.

"The spouse of Christ cannot be adulterous, she is uncorrupted and pure, She knows one home; she guards with chaste modesty the sanctity of one couch. She keeps us for God. She appoints the sons whom she has born for the Kingdom. Whoever is separated from the Church and is joined to an adulteress is separated from the promises of the Church; nor can he who forsakes the Church of Christ attain to the rewards of Christ."

--St. Cyprian of Carthage, On The Unity of the Church (Chapter 6, ANF,V:423),

Revnitel, would you like to recommend some manuals or guides to confession? That would be great. Thanks.

Here is a basic and very good article to start with:

http://orthodoxinfo.com/praxis/guide-to-confession.aspx

And there are two works out there, one by St. Nektarios and the other by the ROCOR Hierarch Metropolitan Antony (Khrapovitsky) on Confession.

Generally speaking, one heartfelt kathisma a day (or all the ones appointed for the day) and the morning and evening prayers, are fertile spiritual ground for approaching guides to Confession, confessing..

Very true.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.
