Is Barak Obama the Antichrist?

  I beg to differ.  I haven't paid a great deal of attention to the U.S. Presidential primaries, but when I watched the recently televised debates in New Hampshire Senator Barak Obama appeared [i]extremely [/i]charismatic, articulate, and solution-focused.  He has since been endorsed by a number of the cerebral Democratic Party luminaries, including the likes of Senators Bill Bradley and Gary Hart, as America and the world's last great hope for a possible geopolitical solution to the Moslem crisis...perhaps partly because Obama grew up as a Moslem studying the Koran in Indonesia.  There is  an interesting corpus of literature which suggests that the Antichrist--a descendant of the Hebrew tribe of Dan--will be revered by Moslems.  (see op.cit. [i]Antichrist; Islam's Awaited Messiah [/i]by pseudonymous author Joel Richardson.)   Obama has publicly called for a dialogue and U.S. reconciliation with Iran.

  Obama was born August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii to a Moslem father and an atheist mother.  For what it is worth, the Antichrist is supposed to "come from the sea..."

I wasn't talking about Obama. I was talking about the description of the anti-christ and his influence on the world.

    Perhaps I can "get over it" with your kind assistance.  Are you quite certain that Barak Obama is [i]not[/i] descended from the Hebrew tribe of Dan?  (Please also let me know the genealogical that data you are using to ascertain this.  There is a genealogical chart on-line that lists one of his 17th century ancestors as an immigant named "Lewis," as well as a long list of paternal relatives in Kenya with names that are not at all familiar to me.)  Also, are you quite certain that the Antichrist, who will eventually be enthroned in Jerusalem, will be a [i]native [/i]Israeli--as opposed to a descendant of Dan born elsewhere in the world--e.g., London, Bratislava, or Honolulu?   Please enlighten me on this subject.

Can you be sure that the seat of antichrist will be given to someone born outside of Israel? The point is for the jews to believe that the man is a clear descendant of their kind. Obama doesn't fit that description. The line has to be protected.

Plus, he's black and a mix of muslims. Do you think the jews would accept that?

It's pretty obvious that they won't.

What I think is that none of us can pinpoint who the antichrist will be because God will not reveal that to us even under considerable analysis.

So, what I'm saying is...stop obsessing with your theory because you are allowing yourself to be distracted and taken away from concentrating on spiritual thoughts.

That's all I'm saying. No enlightenment here...just my 2 cents.

 There are certainly Jews in the world, even in Israel, who are "black."  As for Islam, you might be interested in reading Joel Richardson's analysis in [i]Antichrist; Islam's Awaited Messiah[/i].  The Antichrist will be hailed as a great peace maker and humanitarian--and one with the authority and power to resolve a world crisis.  Such worldly power is not likely to arise from within Israel, but from a world power extraneous to the smaller states of the Middle East--which also fits with the concept that the Antichrist will come "from the sea" (i.e., outside of the Middle East.) 

  I might turn your own question around and ask if you could really imagine an [i]Israeli citizen being hailed as a world leader by the one billion Muslims in the world. ??[/i]  Hardly likely.  It seems more likely that the Antichrist will present as a sort of Muslim Unitarian pseudo-Christian, like Barak, who will later be identified and accepted as a Jew, perhaps through modern genetic testing, which is now confirmatory of some Jewish lineage...In any case, when the Antichrist appears, he will deceive "even the very elect." It behooves us to remain watchful, and pensive on the subject, particularly in light of the relatively recent Orthodox prophecies on the subject.  All those who, like Cyprian, would say, "Don't ask...  Don't tell..." imply that the scriptures and prophecies are not to be contemplated or discussed, even in Orthodox circles. This makes little sense to me.

I never in any way suggested that a generalized discussion of the Antichrist is off-limits. I simply find it objectionable and absurd for you to name political figures such as Obama as the Antichrist. I find it reckless and foolish. St. Cyril of Jerusalem says we are to impart the signs of Antichrist freely to all. Of course I have no objections to this.

St. Cyril the Catechist:

Guard thyself then, O man; thou hast the signs of Antichrist; and remember them not only thyself, but impart them also freely to all. If thou hast a child according to the flesh, admonish him of this now; if thou hast begotten one through catechizing, put him also on his guard, lest he receive the false one as the True. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work. I fear these wars of the nations; I fear the schisms of the Churches; I fear the mutual hatred of the brethren.    You have twice said now that my raising the question of whether Barak Hussein Obama might be the Antichrist is "foolish" and "absurd," but you have not yet presented any credible reasons or data to support your assertion.  In contrast, I have given several specific reasons on this thread--referencing Orthodox prophecies and scholarly writings on the subject--for raising this very serious question.  So, I will ask again.  What reasons, and Orthodox sources, can you present in support of your own assertion that Barak Hussein Obama could not possibly be the Antichrist?  I would sincerely like to know, and not just for "academic" reasons.
