Rabbits and perhaps deer seem to love marigolds.

Great. I will study this over the winter. I don't mind working at ground level, but I can imagine that raising the plants up like that would keep them warmer. It's always a problem about this time of year when frosts can appear out of nowhere and freeze plants next to the ground. So I see this raised bed gardening as a way to avoid the losses of precious tomatoes !
