But the history of Mt Carmel stretches so far back to the most ancient times. Remember at the time of Prophet Elias, the rain cloud that appeared in the shape of a Foot, considered to presage the Queen of Carmel's reign in the future.
Mt Carmel is still the most mystical place to me in all the Palestine area.
The only blight for me is the Bahai Temple. I really dislike that pseudo-religion, with Bahaullah as a new, false "prophet".

St. Gregory's monkey was mentioned in readings yesterday from the Prologue of Ochrid (NS). What good are daily devotions if we can't apply 'em in some way? 
So you're saying a foot-shaped cloud in the Biblical account predicted the founding of the "Queen of Carmel" monastery and Carmelite order?
You are possibly referring to the cloud shaped "like a man's hand" that appeared when the Prophet Elijah prayed for rain bringing a 3 1/2 yr. drought to an end. (I Kings 18:44) Maybe you were confusing the cloud with Elijah's running on foot ahead of King Ahab to Jezreel.
I do find the confusion of body parts a little unsettling though.
Can you please clarify?

That's a marvelous find, thanks, really enjoy seeing that Icon with all Saints related to Carmel on the sides/
Concerning The Foot Controversy. I was sure the cloud that rose out of the sea up to the top of Mt Carmel was shaped as a small foot, not a a hand~
The one that Elias sent his servant 6 times to check and the SEVENTH the servant returned to report this sighting. Later, people felt that this prefigured the Queen of Heaven's arising out of the sea of confusion [my words] and turmoil to serenely rule over all humanity.
With Her perfect Purity, She would use that same foot to stomp on the head of the dragon/serpent, Her enemy and that of mankind.
Likewise, the fact that rain came after that long spell of drought is believed to symbolize the shower of graces that She bestows upon the souls who seek Her intercession by prayer to Her with confidence that She will hear & rush to the Rescue or send Angels to the Fescue.

The Russian Church Abroad's Commission on Dialog With the Orthodox Church in America Meets For the First Time On August 4-5, 2009, the first preliminary meeting of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia's Commission on Dialog with the Orthodox Church in America was held at Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY.
This commission was formed by a decision of the Synod of Bishops of ROCOR on May 5, 2009. Participating in the meeting were His Grace Bishop George of Mayfield, Chairman; Archimandrite Luke (Murianka); Protopriest Alexander Lebedeff, Secretary; Protopriest David Moser and Priest Peter Jackson. This preparatory meeting discussed organizational matters. The next meeting of the Commission will be held in November. The results of the preliminary meeting will be reported on at the regular session of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Church Abroad.
Hmmmm... Lebedev? Moser? Paffhausen? Sounds like the various comrades of the Moscow Patriarchate Abroad are binding all of the scattered American Orthodox branches of Stalin's church into one highly combustible bundle...
