Well my Brother time will tell all. In Orthodoxy the Ends certainly do not justify the means. I feel heartbreak and sorrow at the schism caused in the Serbian-GOC by a small hero-worshipping clique and the damage its done to any future dialogue with the RTOC. Words without deeds are dead, and confessing an orthodox faith is essential but what about the works; fear of GOD,Love, and Obedience? None were shown through this anti-canonical action. What was the rush to have Akakios a Bp? Were they going to get an administrator in Serbia sent by the GOC whom they'd have to be obedient to,and that was just not acceptable, since freedom rules.

You seem like you don't want to talk about Bp Artemije anymore-- after all, "freedom rules" is the mantra of those disobedient to the "Synod" they recognize, hoping to "do what they wish" for as long as they can.... yet, all of a sudden, your focus is on what that "evil Akakije" is doing to "the Church"....It's an old game for most of the veterans recognize from previous WO contributions: "divide and conquer". You aren't part of the GOC and you don't CARE what Bp Akakije is doing. You realize trying to promote World Orthodoxy through Bp Artemije has been revealed for what it is, so you turn to the argument between the Greeks and Russians.
I could talk about Bp artemije for as much as you'd like my dear Brother, and I belive that You yourself brought up that there's a TOC- Bp in Serbia who. Bp Artemije should reach out and that's what we were discussing then.

You justify what liberal members of ROCOR did in the 80's, misrepresent St Philaret, and now pretend to care what happens to RTOC.

Look, not to sound chauvinistic or anything since all who are trully Baptised are baptised in Christ. I was born Orthodox, have family who were both blood and bloodless martyrs for the holy Orthodox faith and have ties to the holy monastery of milkovo in serbia. Now if you think or feel that I would support enemies of the church and if I gave You that impression I am trully sorry for that since that is not my intention. I have a great love for Saint Philaret and definitely feel closeness to Him through many individuals whom He loved and prays for now. My point brother is that you were quite quick to (not judge) but maybe label Bp Artemy and His actions as WO or something and I wanted to bring similarities that modern day saints passed through and how they responded. Now everything is separate, separate but it seems that We are separating people from each other.
We are not so quickly fooled.

If its a folly on my part I do apologize, that I might have made You uncomfortable,My intention was to ask/answer meaningful issues that have arose.
Not caring for the RTOC,I've more than on a few occasions judged the actions of Met. Agathangel in 07 and for not uniting with the RTOC. Bp Photios of Bulgaria also had suggested that a unified ROCOR would be a great save haven to many. That's why the actions of a few-Akakios have great consequences for many others both for those in TO and those peering in.

BTW. I was thinking about two questions, which every good-willing true Orthodox should think

One is: what would our bishops gain for consecrating a bishop to Serbia, an independent church?

Another is: If there are so many divisions and problems among the Serbian true Orthodox, why did GOC -who has authority over them- not too much in trying to appease these disputes applying appropriate discipline against the seditious ands problematic clergymen?

Also, I think that GOC should continue dialogue with RTOC, there is no strong reason for not doing it. Even if the RTOC bishops were wrong, it would the Christian love from GOC.

I'm not uncomfortable at all. Far from it. I am not in a single jurisdiction you have mentioned. However, I am trying to understand your switches of interest in context.

It is a fundamental understanding of virtually all True Orthodox in the world that when you realize that you are True Orthodox-- you join to a True Orthodox Bishop and leave the communion of the innovators. Looking for a Bishop within that communion is non-sensical, particularly if you have to cross jurisdictional lines to do so. I can understand a person switching jurisdictions, but switching from one Bishop in communion with the innovators to one who is but doesn't like it as much makes no sense to me. It's a slight easing of the conscience but it is not what the canons or the tradition of the Church call for, because it is not actually fleeing the innovators, but hiding behind someone else in the same room.

Bp Artemije's path is a very confusing one these days. Perhaps in 100 years his memory will be vindicated, if we have 100 years. If not, the uncomfortable alternative (the one you have) is unfortunately the only canonical one besides applying to another Synod with no jurisdiction in Serbia.

On Tuesday July 6/19, 2011 the Holy Synod of the Church of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Greece gathered in a regular meeting and reached the following decisions:

1 The petitions of two people who bear the title of clergymen were examined and the preconditions were established for the examination of their petitions.

2 The Synod was informed by His Grace Bishop Photios of Marathon concerning the decisions of the Holy Eparchial Synod of America which occurred the previous month via conference-call.

3 The issues of the missionary work of the Church of the G.O.C. in Australia were discussed.

4 The Report-Proposition of His Grace Bishop Photios of Marathon about the problems of the G.O.C. of Serbia was read, after the discussions which they had there during his recent visit for the Feast of the Monastery of the Forerunner Novostjenik. The Report was delivered to the Synod and it was decided to send it to those absent hierarchs and to those in America for study, because of the importance of the issue so that they may express their opinion.

5 The path of relations with the Church of the G.O.C. of Greece with the Russian True Orthodox Church and the situation was respected.

Decisions of the Holy Synod August 3/16, 2011

On Tuesday August 3/16, 2011 the Holy Synod of the Church of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Greece gathered in a regular meeting and reached the following decisions:

  1. Fr Luke Michelin’s petition to join the Church of the G.O.C. of Greece was accepted.

  2. Directions were given to his Grace Bishop Photios of Marathon in view of his upcoming visit to Australia.

  3. The Proposition of His Eminence Metropolitan Gerontios of Piraeus and Salamina concerning the order and uniformity of hierarchical liturgies was read. The proposal was distributed to the hierarchs for them to study in order to reach a decision at the following meeting.

  4. The future of the relationship of the Church of the G.O.C. of Greece with the Russian True Orthodox Church was discussed in light of the R.T.O.C.’s uncanonical episcopal ordination of one of our Serbian clergymen. It was decided to send a letter of protest to Archbishop Tikhon of Omsk and to stop all further communication.

  5. The following subject was discussed which has arisen in Serbia: Three of our clergymen followed by a few dozen adherents, despising the other Serbian clergy and the majority of the faithful Genuine Orthodox Christians of Serbia and also the hierarchy which created them; naming themselves the “Serbian Genuine Orthodox Church” they arbitrarily proclaimed that they are proceeding to reestablish the autocephalous Serbian Church and they accepted episcopal ordination by the Russian True Orthodox Church.

At the previous meeting it was planned to discuss the proposal of His Grace Bishop Photios of Marathon at the present meeting, which proposal foresaw the satisfaction of the request of the Serbian G.O.C. in a canonical way, via processes which would preserve their unity. Unfortunately some of them acted prematurely to find a solution according to their desire and took measures which through rebellion and disobedience provoked the division of the Serbian Genuine Orthodox Christians.

In spite of all this, the Holy Synod will not abandon the children of Christ’s true Church in Serbia who have remained faithful to canonical order and it will put into action the canonical processes through which their local Church will be organized. To this end, a pertinent encyclical will be sent and a Clergy-Laity Synaxis will be called in Belgrade.

Those on the other hand who have cut themselves off, are sorrowfully considered schismatics and they are called to repentance and return to their paternal home.

Evlogite,

Well the soon to be "resurrected Serbian Akakian church" does not want to
End communion with the GOC. Just "Greek administration meddling on Serbian territory".

What about the poor sisters who are secluded in a cult like atmosphere and have no clue of what is really happening, their personal and spiritual well being MUST be Top priority. The only information which they have with the outside world is what is coming from Akakios and His View of reality.
We know that this move into a predestined place in the mountains by the sisterhood and with a young Monk was a major inter-schism within the Serbian-GOC,It was the end of the missionary activities and beginning of visions of a Serbian-GOC bishop, better put visions of Akakije and only Him as Bishop. Second and also justly so,it was scandalous for a mostly quite young sisterhood to have a permanent young Hieromonk in its midst. There was NO daily Liturgy being served,so that cannot Be an excuse. That might be a answer as to why Kyr,Kyr, Kallinikos NEVER went to visit.
Certainly Despota Photios who is familiar with the situation and settings has a plan to go visit and inform the sisterhood of their current Canonical status. May Agios Ioannis protect and shelter them.

This post appears to contain unsubstantiated accusations against Fr Akakios and the Novi Stjenik convent. Please refrain from any unsubstantiated libel in the future. -Jonathan Gress, Moderator
