Not sure about that question. Maybe someone else will know.

However ! Today there is an article out about this Pope's bad health causing worries. He has canceled
2 days of appointments and probably observers are wondering how he will fare with a missing lung from childhood,
sciatica and various other ailments. He has gained weight, which could be alarming with his medical condition,
Vatican watchers note. Apparently, he has been noticed breathing with difficulty, too.

So, maybe the idea of retirement is not so remote as it sounded when he mentioned it to the press.

Can the world bear THREE Popes at once?

Maybe they can start a papal retirement monastery with just these three Popes: Benedict, Francis and Bartholomew. :|

You two are funny ! I chuckled at both posts.
[I think Lydia meant Pope Emeritus [his official title] Benedict XVI, upcoming Second Pope Emeritus Francis, and
the newly elected Pope to restore order. I think it would be an archconservative to undo the damage done by the other 2 ! Plus all the profound devastation done deliberately by all the post Vatican II Popes.]

Well, an article in the main channels is now saying the same thing as the rumors I reported earlier. Note the telling last sentence of the quotation.
The part about the connection between the lung deficiency and potential heart trouble is made clear here :

"His repeated fatigue reports and weight gain suggest he may be slipping into a form of chronic heart failure common among victims of significant lung disorders,” Dr. Peter Hibberd told Newsmax...

There are no reports whether the pope has been forced to use an inhaler or take extra oxygen to help him breathe in Rome’s stifling humid summer weather, but there is rampant speculation in Rome that part of the reason he is going undercover in July is because whatever is ailing him can’t easily be hidden."

Did anybody see the big news the other day ? Francis said to the media that he may retire because he believes "God will take him" in 2-3 years.

My supposition when I began this thread is getting closer all the time to becoming reality !
