People can also come to understand that it is rubbish when it is explained to them with love in Christ.

But, it is also difficult to hear when Orthodox Christians believe in the rubbish of The Da Vinci Code's ridiculous nonsense.

There's also the rubbish of luck.

The evil eye is a blue enamel with a circle in the middle. Many Greeks wear it as a pendant to ward off evil. The blue stone can also be in the form of a thick ring that people wear on their bracelet or chain - many times with the Cross.

It is also hung on the car mirror or wall in the house.

There's also the superstitions of throwing coins in a new house for prosperity or in a car for safety or on the marriage bed(for newly weds) for blessing of babies.

And I've seen and heard of Greeks who say something nice to someone and then spit on him/her(not real spit, but twewt twewt) so that they don't give them the mati. Have you seen my Big Fat Greek Wedding?

You are right. Divination is forbidden by Holy Scripture.

"There shall not be found among you any one....that useth divination, or an observer of the times, or a witch" (Deuteronomy 18:10)

I used to be involved with tarot cards and runes, before I came to Holy Orthodoxy. This stuff doesn't work. It's just a load of rubbish. Most of these "psychics" are frauds - they're just after your money. Those that aren't are most likely assisted by demons.

Christos Voskrese (Christ is Risen) I too used to read coffee cups etc many many years ago. To make matters worse, my family taught me how to and sadly they are still involved in many of these satanic things.
