Sean's posting of the Encyclicals of 1935, 1950 and 1974 reveals an interested attribute of Metropolitan Chrysostomos of blessed memory. In private correspondence, he repeatedly stressed his own so-called "moderate" (now known as "Cyprianite") views on the calendar struggle, even after publicly affirming the official "extremist" stance of the True Orthodox Church of Greece. When his views became a hinderance to unity, he set them aside (publicly speaking) in order to further ecclesiastical unity. He put unity above what he believed to be a sound confession of faith on a controversial matter. That was the importance of unity for him - and the Holy Fathers. Something for us all to consider.

Can he really be called of Blessed Memory?

Every faction of the True Orthodox Church of Greece, other than the "Matthewites," has referred to him as "of blessed memory."

His Eminence, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Florina believed - as everyone in the old calendar churches believed at the time - the State Church skirted the Pan-Orthodox anathematizations by implementing only a portion of the Gregorian calendar (the calendar of immovable feasts) but left the movable feasts, obviously including Pascha, unchanged.

Who told you everyone Christophoros?

Many believe and many more believed than that the New Calendar is in and of itself Graceless. And if unity is so important to you why do you champion the Synod in Resistance who sprang from the obviously donatist Kallistos schism?

Theophan.

Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Florina's letter to Bishop Germanos the Cyclades (dated Nov. 9, 1937) details his views on the new calendar and New Calendarists quite precisely. This letter, along with others, has been available in English for seven years now in the book "Resistance or Exclusion? The Alternative Ecclesiological Approaches of Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Florina and Bishop Matthew of Vresthene."

The only reason anyone can even attempt to call him "blessed" Met Chrysostomos is because before he died he adopted the same eccleiology as Saint Matthew of Bresthena, that the new calendar is schismatic and heretical therfore graceless. Other wise he would have died preaching the Kyprianite heresey, instead of just inventing Kyprianism or more accuratly Florinism. Would you have called him blessed Chrysostomos if he died preaching Kyprianism? If you answer yes, then you should be a Kyprianite, if you answer no, then you justify Saint Matthew of Bresthenas actions.

Also if you believe that the Kyprianite ecclesiology is correct, then you are a hypocrite calling Met Chrysostomos "Blessed", because he died believing what Saint Matthew of Bresthena and the GOC always believed, that the NC is graceless.
