Dear Joanna,
Anchoivies is an acquired taste. We love them, especially when you need something salty.
I tried the balsamic vinigar and oil and it is excellent! I'm making some now.
Thankyou so much for the Holy Rock.
Angela,
I'm glad you tried it. You know that olive oil is very good for reducing cholesterol.
I bought a book about health and all the vegetables and fruits and spices and what they do for us. There are recipes and the best think is that they use soya milk instead of dairy products.
I will try to post a recipe regularly, especially since these are vegan.
We should all have a daily intake of olive oil.
Do you have a really good recipe for lentil soup(fakes)? I have one and it works pretty good, but I know I can do better.
I can never figure out how to get the soupy part thinker.
If you have a good recipe for fakes then please post. Actually, I like fasolatha too, but I was always afraid of all that gas.
In Christ, Joanna

Angela,
Bite your tongue girl! You don't like faki? With a side plate of fries, or do you call them chips, and olives...it is a feast for a fast.
Great source of protein, since fish is not allowed.
Here's another simple dish...beans, beans, beans.
These are all canned: kindney beans, green beans, yellow beans, chick peas, fresh chopped onions and garlic. Add some olive oil and white wine vinegar.
Lots of protein. And it's filling. Side of bread...and you have a meal.
Keep it simple. The Mediterranian diet is perfect for fasting.

Here is a Lenten recipe (good for Wednesdays and Fridays during the non-fasting times):
Avocado spread:
Mash a ripe avocado (like one would mash bananas);
spread it on toast or rice cakes.
On non-fasting days, I spread some butter on the toast before applying the mashed avocado.
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.
HA HA. I had that last night for supper! But, I spread it on whole wheat crackers and sprinkled some salt. I also eat this for breakfast on rye bread and I like drinking tea with this instead of coffee. You can also put a tomato or cucumber slice. Guacamole is delicious too.
Thanks for bringing this post back. I will start a thread on the open forum. I just bought a fabulous chopper/blender appliance called the Ninja Master Prep. Did you know that smoothies are the perfect thing for Great Lent? You can use soya milk or almond milk (which I prefer) for fruit mixes and water for fruit and veggie mixes. No oil required. And green smoothies are so good for our system. I'll post some details there.
