Iconophili's Great Big Thread of Conspiracies!

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

The is no insult in calling you a HEATHEN, you claimed we are living longer than ever, that's not a Christian teaching...

Perhaps this is some new definition of "heathen" that I was unaware of. So "Christian" teaching on historical matters isn't related to actual things that happened in time/space and real data and numbers are heathen? I'm sorry, I am a Christian, not the same Church as you belong to (which one is that?) but still a Christian. Why would you resort to namecalling?

From the Centers for Disease Control on mortality of infants and mothers from 1900-1997:
http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm4838a2.htm

"At the beginning of the 20th century, for every 1000 live births, six to nine women in the United States died of pregnancy-related complications, and approximately 100 infants died before age 1 year (1,2). From 1915 through 1997, the infant mortality rate declined greater than 90% to 7.2 per 1000 live births, and from 1900 through 1997, the maternal mortality rate declined almost 99% to less than 0.1 reported death per 1000 live births (7.7 deaths per 100,000 live births in 1997) (3)"

http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm4829a1.htm

"In 1900, 30.4% of all deaths occurred among children aged less than 5 years; in 1997, that percentage was only 1.4%. In 1900, the three leading causes of death were pneumonia, tuberculosis (TB), and diarrhea and enteritis, which (together with diphtheria) caused one third of all deaths (Figure 2). Of these deaths, 40% were among children aged less than 5 years "

Have you ever walked through an old churchyard/burial ground? If so, it is very common to see markers for "Infant" or for children who died before adulthood. Some causes were: Measles, Mumps, Diptheria, Whooping Cough, Tuberculosis, infections or malnutrition. Then there are the ones for women who died due to childbirth: uncontrolled bleeding, sepsis and "Childbed Fever". Adult men died of disease and accidents and infections as well.

YES I CAN, Read "Genesis Creation and Early Man" by Father Seraphim Rose, he basical "Compiled" all the writings of the Church Fathers on Evolution, western man claiming we in our modern age are living longer than man in the past, I have the book so I should know.

Would you be so kind as to provide a quote or a page number or other citation to support your claim? Why should Fr. Seraphim Rose be an authority on demographics?

Ebor

I will give you quotes and I never said Fr. Seraphim was a Authority, I said the writtings of the Father's are the Authority, all he (Father Seraphim) did was Compily what the Father's wrote I clearly posted this in my Previous post when I talked about it, but AGAIN you seem to AGAIN post here as if I didn't write that, hmmmm ARE YOU A DIS-INFORMATIONALIST????????????????????????????????? :? :? :? :?

That's 18 out of 289 words misspelled, and I'm being a bit generous at that.

As to your first point: There are plenty of "legitimate" sites-- or you can go to the library and read any number of books. They aren't, of course, going to spend a lot of time refuting the idiocies of the conspiracy sites.

Your second point: Nobody should care what the canons say. The canons are not able to make a cleric competent to pass comments on anything other than matters of Christian religion. (Actually, they aren't even able to do that.) It's just common sense that a cleric is a second-rate source of information about secular politics or history-- third- or fourth-rate if he repeats the words of second- or third-rate "authorities".

Your third point: The constitution is readily available for consultation. But this has little to do with anything. Indeed, round about this point your comments cease to attain anything resembling coherence. You make what might be taken as historical claims, but I see no reason to credit any of them. The current administration's attacks on civil liberties is plainly traceable back to the use of 9/11 as an excuse, just as its invasions in Afghanistan and Iraq can be traced back to the same point. Zionists? Irrelevant. The continued insistence that the administration attacked its own people in order to obtain this justification? Unsupportable and unnecessary. Your opinions as to the legitimacy of the government's actions? Your opinion, nothing more.

YOUR misreading what I wrote, what I said was: "There is no were in the ANY of the CANONS that say a Cleric cannot tell the people something is wrong with the STATE NO WHERE!"

It may be overly optimistic to think that maybe a future lurker/reader will read the counter-posts and not just the rants, but one can hope.

Perhaps, but then the kind of people who believe the rants may be the kind of people who believe them no matter what you or anyone else says. And internet forums will always attract such people. The internet has always been a cheap way for such people to air their strange ideas.

No one said you are consciously lying- just misinformed. If you cannot even spell, why should anyone give any credence to what you say as being "informed"?

Your punctuation leaves a little to be desired also. There are two question marks missing here.

1/10 (F) .
Very poor effort.
Stay in after class and clap erasers.

According to tradition (little 't') they are released when the Book of the Triodion is opened in Church..........

Thank you for the information, it's very interesting. So we've had 12 days (13 for you I think) of the Purple Demons. It might be interesting to see if things did start getting umm bumptuous almost 2 weeks ago.

Well, you would seem to be thinking that his citations or collecting of the various writings and using them to support his assertions in that book are correct. So that is claiming him as some kind of authority.

I clearly posted this in my Previous post when I talked about it, but AGAIN you seem to AGAIN post here as if I didn't write that, hmmmm ARE YOU A DIS-INFORMATIONALIST????????????????????????????????? :? :? :? :?

Perhaps your intent in your posts are clear to you. Others may not find them so.

A "disinformationalist"? Is that better then a "heathen"? Sorry, I'm not sure just what that might be, but no, I don't think I am one of those.

Now there's food for a conspiracy theory!

Indeed. There are some strange similarities. But in an earlier post from December he/she wrote:

I'm not this Artemon you're talking about, who was he??

So if he/she really is Artemon, the above post is a lie.

It was the final post in this thread:

It's a puzzler.
