Speaking of the Perfect Spiritual Life, here's a Orthodox take on Martha and Maxine:
Mary's Way: Read the Epistle and the Gospel from the Lectionary every day.
Martha's Way: Count it as a prayer when you yell, "JesusMaryandJoseph!" because your kids are swinging from the chandeliers.
Mary's Way: Attend all the weekday Liturgies for all the feasts.
Martha's Way: Count your blessings if the little terrors stand still while you recite the Troparion for the Feast.
Mary's Way: Half an hour each of morning and evening prayers, plus 500 rounds on the prayer rope.
Martha's Way: Wrap the prayer rope around your wrist so you don't use it to
strangle somebody.
Mary's Way: Stand on the women's side of the church during Liturgy with your little dears clustered around your feet, restraining them lovingly while they try to tie other people's shoelaces together.
Martha's Way: Grab the two youngest and dump them in dh's lap. They're his kids, too. Besides, they actually listen to him, at least some of the time.
In Christ, neither Mary nor Martha
