Looks cold, but beautiful, like out of a fairy tale. You'd never know it was the sight of a concentration camp. Happy Civil New Year!
"The spouse of Christ cannot be adulterous, she is uncorrupted and pure, She knows one home; she guards with chaste modesty the sanctity of one couch. She keeps us for God. She appoints the sons whom she has born for the Kingdom. Whoever is separated from the Church and is joined to an adulteress is separated from the promises of the Church; nor can he who forsakes the Church of Christ attain to the rewards of Christ."
--St. Cyprian of Carthage, On The Unity of the Church (Chapter 6, ANF,V:423),
Yes, I just love that place.
And my avatar is of the 3 Solovki Saints : Sts German, Zosima and Savvaty [indistinct as the image turned out to be,
apologies but I don't know how to change it.
Meanwhile it's a little vacation escape to tour Solovki when being rebuilt.
The land itself is full of sad memories, one can feel...
Thanks ! i don't spend ANY time on youtube searching but a thought came to look up one particular thing
and it led me right to this.
By chance, I was listening to my Solovki Chant CD sent via a pilgrim all day yesterday ! Very soothing.
What CD is that? Is there a link on the web where I can sample the tracks on the CD?
I am glad you are interested to hear it
Actually, the woman who sent it with some Rocor pilgrims is glimpsed in this clip.
I am not sure where she bought it but I can check the info. It's all in Russian, not made for export.
Let me see the CD's liner notes and I will give you more details if I can understand the writing.
