I was also at a Slava on Friday, for Father Vicenti, the deacon at the St Sava Monastery at Elaine, where I go to Church mostly.
I like the Serb customs and I really love the Serbs and the Serbian Church. The Serbian's Christian love for strangers and each other was a big part of my conversion.
The brandy I avoid since an incident a few years ago. I was at a priests house and he poured me a shot but I was scared to drink it. When it was time to leave I realized I had better drink it or he might be offended. I just drank it down in one go. At first I just kind of felt a little burning in my throat, nothing much, but by the time we had started driving away, I was in terrible pain, my whole back and neck were on fire, inside and out, I halucinated and lost all sense of up down or anything and I could not speak for about 5 minutes. My friend who was driving was just laughing at me while I sculled coke to try to counter the effects.
