This is very sad, I live about 50 miles or so from there, last night when watching local news they never ID it as a GOA youth site.

I worked for the Dept of Public Works LA City for 30 yrs and have been at similar incidents, you feel pretty helpless .

Prayers + for all familys affected.

Illegal Aliens

Yes, I prayed for them, but I can't help thinking that the victims would be alive and safe if they had stayed in their own countries instead of being here illegally. Was that camp some kind of "safe house" for illegal aliens? Is the St. Sophia parish aiding and abetting the violation of US immigration laws? I hope not.

No. The guests were invited by the caretaker and his wife. The St. Sophia Priest made a point of saying that they were not aware that the caretaker had done this and would not have allowed it.

They are not saying too much about what the caretaker did wrong because he and his family were killed in the mudslide.
