I met Patriarch Aleksey when he came to Japan to ordain the Metropolitan Daniel. He gave all of us attending an icon of the Resurrection - the Cathedral in Tokyo is the Holy Resurrection Cathedral.

I wouldn't say any one on this forum is anti-Patriarchal. There maybe those who object to some of the actions and teachings of the Patriarchs of Canonical Orthodoxy, and seriously doubt their Orthodoxy and refuse to commemorate them or have any sort of communion with them or those who commemorate them.

I guess that depends on what you mean by anti-Patriarchal. Certainly I have no problem with the administrative scheme that has Patriarchates (or a Pentarchy)--so long as it is understood that this is merely a way of giving a visible order to what is already invisibly united and intertwining, and so long as it is remembered that, paradoxically, all bishops are essentially equal.

Regarding the current Patriarchs (Bartholomew, Paul, Alexei, Ignatius, etc.), I would have not run away from a meeting with one of them, though I would not eagerly seek one out either. I guess when I made the comment about being blessed with meeting one, I was sort of thinking of a Patriarch who was undeniably Orthodox.

I've met two bishops in my life, though I didn't seek to meet either of them. One I met at an ethnic food festival, and another one I met at the Antiochian Parish I attended. Both bishops (Kyrill of the OCA and Antoun of the Antiochians) were very nice, and very accessible.

Now... I'll bite :) What was the meeting with Bartholomew like?
