I have been reading these posts as they have developed and i must say that a few times I have burst out laughing at some of the comments. You are forgeting yourselves when you begin to entangle yourselves with the LETTER of the law. You forget the SPIRIT of the law. You begin to sound like Pharisees!!! The laws were written as an ideal to strive for, not something that everyone must adhere to to the exclusion of all else. A spiritual father told me years ago that if your aching feet distract you from your prayer, pull your mind from what it should be concentrating on then by all means sit down and re-direct your mind to the prayer. God will not mind, since he preferes your prayers to the self-indulgent whining that your feet hurt. The standing is not some sort of marathon that you HAVE to complete, it's not an endurance test....you are in church to pray!!! Fanatism is not a good thing since it makes people prideful as the pharisee and judgemental of their fellow brother or sister. While modernism is not always a good thing...it has it's place (and I'm not saying necessarily in the church).
All any of us can do is the best we can to attain that high level that God wants of us. But I don't thing that he meant for us to be such nit-pickers!!!
