Gregory,

As I have so often asked, please show me where any saint, synod, holy father, or any part of Holt Tradition teaches that communion with heresy is an acceptable option, and I will repent of my relishing in the division between the MP and the ROCOR.

Until then, the ROCOR “house” will only be divided when there is unity with the MP, because what does “Christ have to do with Belial?”

So if I seem like I “relish” (perhaps a better word is “relief”), it is because I am. ;)

btw, I make the prophesy you qouted above to mean that God will unite all his faithful, which would mean the "Old Calendarists", not those who were "afraid to be put out of the synagauge". St. Antoly has many other great prophesies that I think would make that more clear.

Today the Church of Christ celebrates His Ascension. :D

OOD, ROCOR equals "Belial?!" Rather immoderate words from our moderator!

"Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment."

I haven't posted in ages, but I have been following this thread lately. I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, but I just wanted to say something briefly. This morning in church, the priest asked us to pray for Met. Laurus and his delegation, saying how something about all the mixed feelings swirling about at this time. He also said that after Liturgy, a moleben would be offered. After Liturgy, I spoke to a Russian women who said she was staying for moleben, and that she felt it helped her prayers "just charge upwards." I thought this was really inspriring and comforting that the response to this anxious time should be prayer and a reliance on God's guidance.

Waldemar,

ROCOR equals "Belial?!"

You must have misunderstood me.

I was certainly not inferring this, I would say that if anything the MP's pedigree or communion would be that which was equal to "Belial"; but I was not trying to say even this really.

You cited a portion of Holy Scripture ("a house divided cannot stand") to mean that the MP and the ROCOR must be united in order to stand. And I responded to generally say the ROCOR and the MP are not the same house.

Without regard to the MP's communion with Monophysites, Bartholomew, and a whole cast of fallen men, their role in the ecumenical movement is enough to make the entire chorus of angels weep. Besides their signatures on the Balamand confession and countless other dark deeds, the MP is a member of the WCC. The WCC is the living embodiment of anti-orthodox faith which states that only the Orthodox Church is the "One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church". The WCC on the other hand maintains that the Church has lost its unity and now exists only in schisms: Eastern schism, Papal schism, Anglican schism - and the theologizing liberals regard every heresy as a new "branch" of the Church of Christ, and they think that every separate part has the right to be called a "church".

These groups of fallen people who have gathered themselves around their unique heresies and have called themselves a church have collectively created a council in which their "churches" can discuss unity as equals among equals. Being outside the Church, they do not wish to and cannot understand that their communities had fallen away from the Church because of heresies, and that they can join it again only through repentance and rejection of all their errors. And how will these fallen men be taught that the Orthodox Church is the One and True Church when they see her consorting in a sergianistic style cooperation with the pride of their minds as an equal, confessing as they do that they need and seek unity? But of course we know that the "orthodox" who are members confess they are not the "One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. So it is also by the fruits of this confession, not just their demonic membership, that we know them.

The Fathers did not enter into discussions with heretics. They confessed the truth and refuted their claims without courteousness and compliments. They never arrived at mutual understandings with heretical "churches". Their dialogue was always public and had a view to the salvation and edification of souls. The Orthodox Church did not converse with "churches" of the heretics. It was not a discussion of the Church with churches, but a dialogue between the Church and souls who had lost their way. The Church does not discuss, for she does not seek. She simply gives - because she has everything.

St. Mark of Ephesus who upheld Orthodoxy during one of the most critical periods for the Orthodox Church, would say: "Never, oh man, can any matter concerning the Church be improved by compromises: there is nothing in between Truth and lies"

Sue,

I have been praying about this for some time now. There is nothing which cannot be acomplished through prayer, and it only because of all our sins that we find ourselves in this and many other situations.

But in addition to prayer, the Lord helps those who cooperate and listen, He never forces His will on anyone.
