Prophesy of St. John of Shanghai - birth of the anti-christ

Post by joasia »

I remember hearing or reading (it's been awhile) about St. John's prophesy. Not really prophesy but announcement.

I just want to be sure that I didn't misunderstand. If there is anyone that knows someone who was there or who was himself/herself there when he announced it during his sermon, please clarify it for me.

St. John was saying his sermon one Sunday (Feb. 1962) and in the middle of speaking he fell silent and then started to weep. A woman asked him: "Vladika, what's the matter?" And he said: " The anti-christ has just been born into the world."

Now, I'm not sure whether my little description is accurate. So, please, let me know.

Because I have been carrying this story in my heart for a few years. And I have been believing it. Which means that I believe the anti-christ is in the world, alive and that means we don't have much time left.

So, I am viewing my dilemmas of life and all these jurisdiction arguement with a different lens.

But, I also couple this event with the prophesy of St. Seraphim of Sarov coming to Russia and bringing all the splinters of the church under the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

Then there is also the vision of St. John of Krondstadt of the times of the anti-christ.

Waldemar,

I was asking a serious question. Don't make fun of me. If you don't know anything about it, then don't answer.

I've been to the Church (Holy Virgin Cathedral) were St.John is Layed I will ask when I go back if he said that I seriously doubt he did, since Holy men say the Antichrist will be the same age as Christ was when he takes over (33years) old I have talked to a Greek monk who said St.John never said that because the Antichrist has to come after the great apostasy he said we're not living in the great apostasy age now Orthodox are just staying away from the Church not apostizing he said the apostasy is when there will be a oplen movement to leave Orthodoxy kind of plike the bolshivic revalution but ten times worse but this time it will wholey be directed at The Orthodox Church.

Artemon,

Considering Pat. Bartholomew's heretic teachings on Orthodoxy, I think that it's a clear sign of spiritual apostacy. Most people go to church in the body, but they don't care anything about the truth or to worship God.

Look around you...can you cross yourself before a meal, in a restaurant? And if you do, don't people look at you weird? The apostacy is global, the Orthodox are just the last stretch of the final run to it. Except, for the few who are holding on.

Who said the apostacy was only applicable to the Orthodox? Didn't God create all the other people. Isn't most of this world already in apostacy?
We are the 1% that are holding on. And even within Orthodoxy, we have Patriarchs and bishops who are dressed for the part, but their hearts are far from God.

And who said that the anti-christ will come to all the world at 33 years old? That's only assumed. He just has to appear during a human's lifespan. For arguement's sake, he is 42 years old now. And he's active in the political arena, but not yet revealed to the world.

Please, let me know what saints stated that the anti-christ will sit on his throne as the saviour of the world at the age of 33.

<sigh> I am 47 years old and I have heard all this stuff every five years or so since I was 15.

Relax. It will happen when it happens.

All of these "signs" have been deemed applicable by every generation since the Lord was crucified.

Tom,

You really do have quite a pompous attitude, don't you?

Well, it didn't happen in all those other times, but could it be possible, that it might happen during our lifetimes?

After all, it hasn't been disproven that it's NOT during this time?

<< double sigh>>
