Orthodox6,
Greetings! I hope all is well. I am a new member on the Euphrosynos Cafe', and I am an iconographer.
I understand your situation with the icon. I am sorry this happened to you. Have you tried to contact the iconographer? Did you tell him about the problems? If I may ask, what did he tell you?
Normally, with most iconographers, the unspoken rule is that once an icon is sold that is it! And it does not matter what the clients complaints are, aside from the icon not arriving due to being lost in the mail; which is not the case here.
I do not accept this belief of most iconographers. If you are really having a problem with this and you are so disappointed that it is almost unbareable, as long as it justifyable, and not simply that you dislike the style; then I think I could find it in myself to rectify the problem and paint you a new one without charge.
I try to make an honest assessment concerning my work. I look at it for awhile and get others opinion about it before I finally varnish it, and make necassary changes if I have to.
Do not fear ordering other icons from reputable iconographers in the future, but make sure that they are indeed reputable.
Through your prayers,
paul
