Some people have weak faith, and the smell of alcohol in the Sacred Chalice (the accidents remain) drives them crazy with desire for alcohol.

Did they go for spiritual therapy with a priest? Did they overcome their weakness and strengthen their faith, in the process?

Yes, they worked with their priest, who used the pre-sanctified form of Holy Communion along with water to commune them.

After a couple of years, with help from AA and regular Holy Confession, they had dramatically improved. Some people struggle more than others.

Before I forget, have you ever heard of this precious little prayerbook:

Akathist to the Mother of God: 'The Inexhaustible Cup'

This little booklet is printed by St. Paisius Serbian Orthodox Monastery in Stafford, Arizona. I think I obtained my copy through St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Monastery in Florence, Arizona, which has an online store.

Many miracles are attributed to the Theotokos who will come to our aid.

Lovingly in Christ-God,
Maria

Pray for my brother who is alcoholic.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.
