Julianna,

I think many syncretists statements, such as this one, are manipulative and intentionally carry the reader to the doorstep of contradicting Holy Tradition in subtle ways without directly pushing them in.

The ecumenist message is sophisticated. They protect their agenda with a veil, speaking in easily understood terms such as "loving your neighbor", which is an obvious Christian value people of all spiritual skill levels and "denominations" can understand and agree to. Much to their delight and plan, any questioning that their message has a hidden seed of evil will bring the wrath of the more spiritually novice, who also happen to be the majority, who only see it as an attack on "love". And just like a con artist, they maintain plausible deniability until the final trap is sprung, which is only done at a place and time of their choosing, when they feel all the conditions are right.

But as it happens with all con artists, they are forced to be ambiguous on certain topics or they would have to give up the charade and reveal themselves. This is the way of the syncretist; on the subject of Mysteries outside the church, such as baptism, marriage, and communion, they could never declare them meaningless like all of the Saints and Synods of the Church of the past, this would be destructive to their goals and accompishments. On the contrary, they are trying to slowly convince their flocks that the mysteries of the heretics are real, at first perhaps "imperfectly", later perfectly, and once the people believe this, it will appear as a sin to remain separated. They bring people to this belief with ambiguous statements, the visible theology of joint services, compromises which have apparent conclusions, and a host of other ways. They have even declared this themselves(!!) which leads one to also believe that none of this would even be possible if people were not so indifferent. This is as it is with most victims of con artists, they either want to "believe a myth" (Mat.) or simply allow its belief.

Anyway, I'm rambling again...
