Some megachurches to be closed on Christmas

One for ridiculous file......

How stupid can it possibly get? When I was a kid....church and your debt to God came first, all else had to wait for afterwards. We could explore the stockings, but open gifts? skip church? for that matter be late for church? Never in a million years. There would have been no presents to open.

The truth is the churches in question are holding a Christmas Eve service. So perhaps it isn't so bad in one sense - in theory.

The real horror is the lack of Liturgy. That is the logical and eventual - horrible consequence of the "reformation."

You just don't know how good you have it in Holy Orthodoxy. Spend some time in the void and you'll be kissing the Church floor and washing its floors with your tears. Consider Igor Stravinsky.

"But I was captivated by a short essay on composer Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971), who returned to Orthodoxy in his 40s. This essay told of how the great composer, on entering church, prostrated himself on the floor before the altar and prayed — for two full hours. That accomplished, Stravinsky rose, received the sacrament, and then resumed prayer, this time with his head touching the stone floor. God-lite was clearly not the object of such devotion."

The strange thing is these are the same people who are fighting to "keep Christ" in Christmas......Yet here they are not even going to bother with celebrating His birth in a church.... rather their efforts seem to just commercialize things even more....
