Christ is Risen!
I just returned from St.Tikhon's annual pilgrimage. I encourage everyone to visit the monastery if they get the chance.

While on this trip my father contacted me from my grandfather's house in Florida. In his sleep this past Friday night, my grandfather very unexpectedly passed away. This of course was before he had the opportunity to see a priest... it does seem though that he found some peace before his passing, making things right with those around him who he could have wronged. Please, if you remember, pray for my grandfather that he may enter the Kingdom of God. Your prayers and support so far have been much appreciated!

Peter P. Hatala, 77, of Mims, Fla. and formerly of Pleasant Valley, died Saturday, May 24, 2003 after a bout with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his son, Peter J. Hatala of Johnson, Vt., and his grandchildren, Peter Joshua Hatala of Boston, Mass. and Steven-Paul Hatala of Syracuse, N.Y. His daughter, Ann Marie Dismuke, died earlier this year and left to him his granddaughter, Maryann Cangialosi of Charlotte, N.C. He is also survived by his former wife, Rose Ripo. He was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters. Born on June 27, 1925 in Beacon, he was the son of Samuel and Anna Pencala Hatala. Mr. Hatala served his country for six years in the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines in World War II and served his country in both the European and Pacific Theatres. He received a Presidential Commendation for his services. Mr. Hatala was a member of the American Legion in Mims, Fla. Retiring after 25 years with IBM Corporation, Mr. Hatala was last employed at the South Road Lab in Poughkeepsie and served as the IBM Country Club president. After losing his wife, Mary Visconti Hatala, at the age of 41, he retired to Florida. Peter was loved and will be missed.
