+Metropolitan Vitaly
Whether or not the Metropolitan's retirement was intended, it's clear he has changed his mind. He has done it for reasons he feels impact the legacy of ROCOR and the direction his former Synodeia took after he retired. His views on ROCOR's course are therefore contextually proper and his actions understandable and due consideration. Now, confusing the issue by using ultramontane language does not help his legitimate resistance...

Metropoliatn Vitaly's retirement true story
This is the true story : "Metropolitan Vitaly left the meeting of the Synod and went into his rooom of in the Synod Buidling". The meeting should have ceased since the First Hierarch was no longer there but it went on... It was on July 10th 2001.
So from July 10th to July 12th, Metropolitan was in his room protected by Father Nikita Orloff. Father Nikita left on July 12th and then on July 13th, bishop Lavre, and Bishop Michael Donskoff enterd Metropolitan Vitaly room and through pressures, threats and etc obliged him to sign a pre-written document of resignation that had the date of July 10th (as if it was signed during the meeting Metropolitan Vitaly left).
You must pay attention to Metropolitan Votaly's signature on such document : the signanture is in English and you can read "Metropolitan Vitaly Oustino".
This shows something strange occured since Metropolitan Vitaly signs Russian texts in Russian and English texts in English and never uses his secular name in ecclesiastic documents...
So he probably signed this document against his will...
