It's always a better thing to baptise in the name of a Christian saint. But, considering the world we live in now...it's enough to keep the Orthodox faith and not fret about little issues like this.
We have to struggle with our passions and our beliefs. How many here are considered odd because they won't eat certain foods because of the Nativity fast or who are looked at with confusion when they mention that they go to church every Sunday or cross themselves before eating?
I confess that I made a big deal about little issues like this, but what counts is the faith.
I don't know Jacqueline-Yvonne, but I know that her salvation is not determined because of her name.
Jacqueline,
Is there a saint that you feel close to that is connected to your name? If there is, then that is all that matters. Because we all are blessed to be protected by God's servants.
I was named Joanna, because my mother had a teacher who had a daughter named Joanna(Joasia is the version, like the Russians use with names like Sasha). But, I came to understand that my name was meant for me...it wasn't for religious reasons, but it turned out to be very appropriate.
I think that many Orthodox people, cradle or convert feel a special connection to their names.
