I can understand the fasination with it in Orthodox circles, given who apparently published it, but studies have been done on this document and the author stole whole sentenses from practically all the major writers of the Enlightenment, everyone from Kant to Nietzsche.

Yeah, it was noted in this footnote used to describe the Spanish version of the book...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Mexico_low.jpg
Description: "This Spanish-language edition declares that whether or not one believes the Protocols are authentic, history has demonstrated that Zionists intend to dominate the world. Such 'logic' is a common response to the many exposures of the Protocols as fraudulent. Published in Mexico City, 2005."

It is NOT a document to be considered for anything by an Orthodox person, stick to the wrtings of the Holy Fathers, it's more edifying.

See, the thing is, they do not contradict the Holy Fathers in anyway. I've read both and have a blog dedicated just to writings about the Antichrist and the end times from an Orthodox Christian perspective (which includes the writings of the Holy Fathers & other Orthodox Christian writers) as well as various other writings about the end, including modern news articles.

I don't believe we should live "in a box". By that I mean that we only read Orthodox sources. Because while it may not be "spiritually edifying" to read a news source from Haaretz Daily News, it sure would be edifying nonetheless to know if they suddenly began to reconstruct the temple.

In short, like the footnote above, I believe that we should be able to judge the world events around us and be able to determine how certain writings may be coming to pass.

Which leads me back to:
21 Economic depressions (Where we seem to be at and next...)

22 Undermining financial systems by foreign loans, creating national bankruptcy, destroying Money Markets and replacing them with government credit institutions

These are not really hard things to swallow, and right about now with the whole verichip and rfid systems being established, none of this looks any bit like a "hoax". Regardless of how "spiritually unedifying" it may appear to acknowledge any of these writings, in the long run we'd have to have blindfolds on not to notice these things literally occurring.

First of all, the title to this thread is ill-advised, if not outright irresponsible to begin with.

Suggestions that Obama is the Antichrist are positively absurd, and unbecoming.

Secondly, the Fathers have handed down the tradition that the holy prophets Enoch and Elijah (the two witnesses mentioned in chapter 11 of the Apocalypse) are going to point out Antichrist and accuse him. When they have finished their testimony, they will be slain by Antichrist, and then rise after three days and an half, and ascend into heaven, as it is written.

So there is little need for us to try to usurp the place of God's faithful witnesses whose place it will be to openly point out the Antichrist.

Furthermore, Sergei Nilus is one of God's holy confessors.

Of course the Protocols have never been proven to be a "hoax". The Jewish-controlled Western media naturally desires to plant this seed of doubt in our minds to discourage us from reading and discussing the Protocols.

There is no reason why Xenia should not look at them from the standpoint of an Orthodox source, since they were published by an Orthodox Confessor, Sergei Nilus!

It is NOT a document to be considered for anything by an Orthodox person, stick to the wrtings of the Holy Fathers, it's more edifying.

You're entitled to your opinion, but who may I ask appointed you as the arbiter of what should be read and what should not be read by the Orthodox?

The Holy Tsar-martyr found the writings of Nilus (including the Protocols) useful and edifying to read.

Sergei Nilus lived for almost 25 years after he first published the Protocols. He was never censored by the Church during all this time, nor were his writings disavowed.

If there was something gravely amiss with his writings or in his publishing of the Protocols, the Church had ample opportunity to address any concerns, and clearly none have ever been raised.

Cyprian,

I am quite serious in raising this question about Presidential candidate Barak Hussein Obama. If you believe my arguments and thoughts about this question to be absurd, please explain your reasons and any data to support your assertions. For example, what is it about Barak Obama that is inconsistent with the teachings of the Church and the Orthodox saints about the Antichrist? (Frankly, I would love to know.) This man was reared in a Wahabbist Muslim school by a very consciously anti-Christian mother, and may very well become the next President of the United States, making him, arguably, the most powerful man in the entire world, all the more so if he is revered by the world's one billion Moslems. He has presented himself to the American public as a very charismatic humanitarian who will achieve world peace, precisely as the saints have foretold about the ascent of the Antichrist to power.

Incidentally, in a campaign appearance in Nevada today, Barak Obama explicitly described himself to the audience as the new "Joshua" who would complete the work of "Moses" (i.e., Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights leaders of the past) by saving America and the entire world! I listened to this "sermon" today on CNN (filmed in a Protestant church) with my own ears, and was appalled and astonished. I was also very curious to observe whether Obama would speak the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is, of course, intolerable to demons. My wife and I both noticed that Obama did not once speak the name of the Lord--other than referring to himself as the new "Joshua"--nor did we observe on or around the man any sign of the holy cross...

Addendum: I want to mention two references regarding the subject of the Antichrist and Barak Obama, for Cyprian and others, and one additional comment.

Cyprian,

Code: Select all

If members of the Church, the mystical body of Christ, are not supposed to contemplate and discuss the subject of the Antichrist, why then did Christ God and the saints leave us the scriptures and the holy prophecies? Are we not supposed to discuss, for example, a reported comment or experience of St. John the Wonderworker on this subject? I don't follow your logic.

Here are the references. The first is from an American expatriate in Indonesia, who has expressed dismay that the American media has not accurately reported the story of Barak Obama's Muslim upbringing. This claim is based upon a story by Barak's former school teacher, who distinctly remembered young Barak studying the Koran in Arabic, a sign of Islamic piety. See "Barak Obama's Inconvenient Truth":

http://laotze.blogspot.com/

The second reference is a published study of the comparative eschatology of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, entitled, The Antichrist; Islam's Awaited Messiah by the pseudonymous Christian author, Joel Richardson. (see Amazon.com)

St. Lavrentii of Chernigov on Antichrist

Post by Pravoslavnik »

There is another contemporary Orthodox prophecy concerning the birth of the the Antichrist, which is temporally consistent with the story I was told about St. John of San Francisco. The Russian Orthodox Starets Lawrence of Chernigov prophesied (circa 1948) that two nuns of his acquaintance would actually live to see the Antichrist. According to this source, the nuns were born in 1923. They would now be 84 or 85 years old. If true, this prophecy certainly implies that the Antichrist will appear very soon. Here is the link:

The anti-christ will be from the line of Dan which is the Jewish line. And his seat will be in Jerusalem. He will come to public view with such charisma and such strength that no one will doubt that he could resolve our problems. He will resolve all wars and economic struggles swiftly. Obama doesn't fit that description; he's just another servant of the anti-christ.

And those people who were considered the anti-christ were only the stepping stones, but could be seen as a form of the anti-christ. They paved the way.

But, the true anti-christ will become public when we are all suffering to the point that we may actually have hope in this person, for the sake of relieving the suffering. Even the elected ones will be deceived.

If the Protocol isn't a hoax, then why have all the plans outlined, in it, come to pass?

Xenia, you made some very good points.

Pravo,

How old is Obama?

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 50)
